Better Remote
User guide & help

Getting started

  1. Connect your Mac and Apple TV to the same local network.
  2. Open Better Remote and allow Local Network access if macOS asks.
  3. Choose your Apple TV in the app and follow the pairing prompt. Enter the code shown on your television when requested.

Quick fixes

Apple TV isn’t listed

Confirm both devices are on the same network, wake Apple TV, then choose Rescan from the device menu.

Pairing won’t finish

Keep the pairing code visible, verify the selected Apple TV, and try pairing again after both devices are awake.

Controls stop responding

Check Wi-Fi, select the Apple TV again, or quit and reopen Better Remote to establish a fresh connection.

Volume is unavailable

Volume controls appear only when the selected Apple TV and audio setup expose compatible volume control.

Using the remote

Swipe on the touch surface to navigate and click an open area to select. Use the top-left button for the apps sidebar and the top-right button for Now Playing. The keyboard button sends text when Apple TV has an active text field.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Arrow keys: Navigate
  • Return: Select or submit text
  • Delete: Go back
  • H or Escape: Home
  • Space: Play or pause
  • Tab: App Switcher
  • Command-Up / Command-Down: Volume

Contact support

If you still need help, email support@apollozac.com. Please include your macOS version, Apple TV model and tvOS version, whether both devices are on the same network, and the exact step where the issue occurs. This makes a connection or pairing problem much easier to diagnose.
